Exposure to light, natural or artificial, can affect our sleep and wake cycle.

Light directly affects our preferred sleep time, by influencing the timing of our body clock. This influence comes from the interaction of light with light sensitive cells in the retina of our eyes. These cells tell the brain whether it is daytime or night time, and our sleep patterns are set accordingly.

Over the last 100 years, thanks to the invention of the light bulb, and now, light emitting televisions, computers and smart phones, we are exposed to much more light at night than we have ever been during our evolution. This change in light exposure and timing has affected our sleep patterns, especially prolonged exposure in the late evening will delay our body clock, causing us to extend our bedtimes.

The products below are designed to assist you in maintaining your body clock in sync with your work/life cycle.
